I know, I know, I know, folks. I have gotten a little lazy here and just haven't been writing much. But in my defense, with all of this heat. There just hasn't been much to write about. It doesn't look like we are going to be getting any breaks anytime soon, but I hope I am wrong in that!
Up on the front burner this week is the upcoming Ginseng season. Digging season opens Sunday the 15th, buying season doesn't open until Sept 1. At this time, nobody has a clue as to what it will be worth. It will, however, be worth while again this year.
The fall squirrel season opens following that, with the first dove season of the fall opening the first of September. From the looks of things, there should be plenty of birds this year.
With all of this heat, there just hasn't been much fishing going on. Most productive fishing is taking place at night, and in deep water.
Just before this heat wave hit, Brooke and I went out in her boat at Spa and had a pretty productive morning. I am hearing about a few blue gill being taken around the spillway at Malone, and "here and there" at Briggs, Spa, and Boy Scout, but nothing really special anywhere.
As fall approaches, and temperatures moderate, I will try to do better for you.
