Homecoming!!!

It’s Football Homecoming week and this year’s theme is “My Old Kentucky Home”.

Here are the week’s theme days:

Monday: Rep your favorite Kentucky college day

Tuesday: Country and Camo Gear Day

Wednesday: Derby Day – Dress it up and put on your style

Thursday: Crazy Weather Day – Wear your gear, whether for hot or cold!

Friday: Black and Gold for our home!

Homecoming Dance

There will be a dance at the High School following Friday night’s game. Tickets may be purchased during lunch. Any student that is not a student at Russellville High School will have to submit an out of district card for a ticket and be placed on a list. No students from outside of Russellville High School not on the list BEFORE Friday night will be admitted.

Show of Bands

The Russellville Marching Band hosted the Show of Bands this past Saturday. Nine bands from across Kentucky and Tennessee descended upon Rhea stadium for the musical spectacle. The event with the Band’s second in two weeks. Next up, this Saturday, the Panthers travel to Logan County for their Marching Band show.

Club Day Success

Club Day Friday this past week was a success due to a large turnout of student participation and a great faculty and staff who were super flexible with the new format for club times. Some clubs, like the Middle School Pep Club saw over 150 students participate. The Math Club saw a full house of students and the Book Club filled up half the library. It was awesome to see so many students involved in the many clubs offered by teachers willing to go the extra mile to enhance student educational experiences.

Sports Happenings

The Panther Football team went on the road an earned a 23-14 victory over Trigg County. The Panther victory ended a - game winning streak by Trigg. In the win, junior kicker Hunter McDowell connected on three field goals to give the Panthers a total of nine points and sealed the victory. The defense also allowed 0 points during the second have and twice forced punts while three times turning over the Wildcats on downs.

Fans of Russellville Baseball will see a familiar face leading the program this year. Russellville alumni and former standout Tyler Meacham was tapped by Athletic Director Kyle Yates as the new head baseball coach on Monday. Meacham brings a wealth of experience to the diamond and is already the Russellville Golf Head Coach. AD Kyler Yates has kept the Spring Sports hires in house as both Softball coach Ryan Davenport and Baseball coach Tyler Meacham are teachers in the district as well as former standouts for the school system.

Russellville Lady Panther Softball kept the machine roiling this week. On Saturday, the Lady Panthers defeated Butler County 13-3 and Ohio County 11-1. On Thursday, they handled Franklin Simpson 4-1 and 13-9 in a double header. Monday they had the bats ringing as they defeated Trigg County 19-1.
