Recently we had a great turnout for the Logan County Fair…KUDOS to our Fair Board for the variety and participation with everyone from the area that supported the events.
In that Logan County spirit, the Russellville Arts Council will be sponsoring three artistic contests and exhibitions to support our 225th anniversary emphasis.
First of all we will be sponsoring a song writing contest open to all that demonstrates “Why I am Proud to be from Logan County”. There will be some financial prizes for those who place as well as having the song featured at the Logan County Tobacco Festival and recorded for air play.
In addition, Chris Holloman will be leading a photo-essay project featuring scenes from across Logan County. This event is open to all and will be displayed at the Logan County Library in September (details are coming, but essentially you can submit up to three images for consideration). Once again there will be a cash prize for those who place as well as a final bound copy which will be placed in the Logan County Library for all to enjoy.
Lastly, Elizabeth Holland and Chris Holloman will be looking for fine art submission including sculpture, fiber art, watercolors, oils, pastels, and mixed media for our annual “Harvest of the Arts” display, which will be featured across the businesses of Russellville around the Square during the Tobacco Festival.
We hope that you all are having a wonderful summer and looking forward to your creativity as we encourage our artists in our community. Check the Russellville Arts Council for more details and forms for submissions as we firm up plans.
