Russellville Junior/Senior High School Back-to-School Bash and Open House was held Thursday evening, July 30, in the gymnasium, and it was a great night! If this event was any indication of how the new school year is going to be, then it will be a super year! There was a tremendous crowd attending, and the faculty and staff had everything well organized and easy to maneuver.

The new students and their parents seemed very impressed with the evening and are excited about the beginning of school. Returning students seemed eager to get started and back in routine.

Many local businesses were there sharing information: Adult Education Learning Center, Barren River Health Department, Cost Cutters, Daymar College, Family Video, First Southern National Bank, Logan County Gymnastics, Orthopedics Plus, and Walmart Vision Center.

Superintendent Leon Smith, shared with RJSHS, “On behalf of our Board of Education and Russellville Independent Schools, I want to thank you for an outstanding Open House Thursday night! All of you spent several days prior to last evening getting your rooms organized and ready to welcome our students and parents back to school. The organization of the lobby and gym helped the flow of traffic and provided needed information for students and parents. The response was evident with the large crowd and smiling faces of our students. Our staff looked very professional, and it was evident the students and parents were enjoying the individual attention given by the staff. I am excited about the possibilities for our students at RJSHS this year! You did a great job setting the stage for a GREAT year! Thanks again!”

Russellville Independent Schools’ first day of school for students will be Thursday, Aug. 6.
