Community Education class offerings for spring 2017 in Russellville announced

Community Education class offerings for spring 2017 in Russellville have been announced as follows:
Breadmaking Class:  There was such an overwhelming interest last fall when we offered a bread-making class that we are attempting to offer another one-time class to be held on Saturday, March 11. This class will be hands-on bread-making steps with added humor and science, plus you will take two loaves home with you!  The class will be held at the Russellville Independent Schools Central Office, 355 S. Summer St., from 9am-Noon.  The instructor is Martin Elmes.  The cost will be $20 per student, and each student is asked to please bring a mixing spoon and a 2 qt. mixing bowl.  We must have a minimum of 5 to have the class and a maximum of 12!  Please register on or before Thursday, March 9. 
“Cooking healthy choices for Every Body” This past fall this morning class filled very quickly, so we’ve decided to offer the same class this spring.  Community Education Director Penni Nugent and Logan County SNAP Ed Assistant Paige Alexander are partnering together to offer this repeat hands-on”, Tuition-Free, “healthy choices” cooking class. At each class, you will have the opportunity to prepare, cook, and sample healthy recipes, learn nutrition information, and receive free incentives. The cooking classes will be held at Logan County Extension Office, 255 John Paul Rd.,Russellville. There will be Six Classes beginning on Wednesday, March 15; Time – 10-11:30 a.m., first session, crunchy Hawaiian Chicken Wraps.  Please register on or before Thursday, March 9. We must limit this class to a maximum of 10 students, so call soon!  
D.I.Y. (Do-it-Yourself) Day Class:  Have you ever been interested in making your own laundry detergent, air freshener, all-purpose cleaners, etc.?  We are offering a DIY one-time class to be held on Saturday, April 22. This class will be hands-on, all supplies included, plus you will take samples home with you! The class will be held at the Russellville Independent Schools Central Office, from 9-11 a.m. The instructor is Tracy HouchensThe cost will be $20 per student.  We must have a minimum of 5 to have the class and a maximum of 12!  Please register on or before Thursday, April 20. 
You can learn to play the Guitar!  We will be offering a Beginning Guitar class starting on Monday, March 13, 2017, through April 17. This 6–week class will be a beginner class with basic lessons, and each student will need to provide their own guitar. The instructor is the talented Glen Browning. The class will be held at Stevenson Elementary from 5-6 p.m. The cost will be $60 per student for the entire 6 weeks. We must have a minimum of 5 to have the class and a maximum of 12!  Please register on or before Friday, March 10. 
Community Education Director Penni Nugent and Russellville Jr/Sr High School Visual Arts Instructor Chris Holloman are partnering together to offer another Visual Arts Class, The Joy of Art:  Drawing and Printmaking.  The cost will be $50.00 for 5 weeks! Art supplies are included, but you are welcome to bring your own drawing materials. Sessions will be held on Mondays, beginning March 20 and will end April 24. Classes will be held at Russellville Jr/Sr High School, in Room 12, from 4-5 p.m. Please call (270) 726-8405, ext. 4331,to register on or before Friday, March 17. We must have a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 to have the class—so contact us soon!
