In what is shaping up to be a very special season in the 20 years the Logan County Farmers’ Market has been located under the pavilion behind the Logan County Extension Office, a record was set Tuesday afternoon.
With 20-plus 4-H members not only exhibiting their entrepreneurship projects but also offering their creations for sale, the normal two aisles of vendors at a normal Tuesday or Saturday session doubled to four aisles.
One of those 4-Hers, Ricky Hall, is set up at almost every session. Another, Josiah Jenkins, works the booth of his mother, Jennifer, every Tuesday. A third, Billy Martin, is beginning to appear at a number of sessions with the abundance of sweet corn he and his family (the Trent Martins) have grown. His brother, Boe Martin, is in the egg business. Miles and Eli Sayne are there most sessions helping their grandparents, Mike and Barbara Dorris, with their booth. Birdee Hughes and her family (sister Chloe and parents Bridgette and Jonathan Hughes) are registered vendors with the girls’ honey business.
Setting up in the pavilion for the first time this year were 4-H Entrepreneurs Logan and Grace Church, Hadley Davenport, Maylee Barker, Jase Barker, Marley Vick, Rose and Ben Scruggs, Anna Lee and Kerry Beth Robey, Allie Richardson, Aden and Deacon Ferris, Sofia Pitts, and Loy Avett and Lillie Ann Hall,
Hundreds of “fun bucks” were handed out to youngsters and parents to spend at the Farmers’ Market this season. Those families added to the huge crowd at the market Tuesday afternoon.
Maci Venable, the new 4-H Agent for Logan County, County Ag Agent Leann Martin and Family and Consumer Science Agent Rachel Hance in planning and orchestrating the event.
The Logan County Farmers’ Market is open each Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon and each Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m.
