Melanie Gayle Allen Mordecai, 52, of Adairville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at St. Thomas West in Nashville. She was a Logan County native, born July 14, 1966 to William “Billy” Allen and Melba Cowan Allen.  She was a clerk and worked in Accounts Receivable at Guardian of Truth Book Store and a member of Living Word Church.  

She was a Western Kentucky graduate, where she received her Master’s degree in English and French, and she was a Kentucky Life Insurance agent. She also loved children, especially her nephews and nieces, animals, books and loved to travel.

She is survived by her husband, David Mordecai; her parents, William ‘Billy Allen and Melba Cowan Allen of Adairville; her sister, Lana Allen Shoulders and husband Max of Adairville; her nephews, Chad Shoulders and Douglas Shoulders; her nieces, Anna Shoulders; and three great-nieces.  

Funeral services for Melanie Gayle Allen Mordecai will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Living Word Church in Adairville with Pastor Ken Cowan officiating with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville.  Visitation at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home will continue Thursday at Living Word Church from 9 a.m. until the service time.

Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Care. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
