Karen Jean Washer Johnson, 61, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at her home in Lewisburg. She fought her battle with cancer with courage and dignity... now she has found peace and healing. Karen will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend.

She was born on August 12, 1956 in Butler County to Lorene and V. C. Washer who survive. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Odessa and Boyd Johnson, whom she loved very much.

She was a founding member of Russellville Baptist Church where she enjoyed her son Chad preaching every Sunday. During her illness she often listened to his preaching by cell phone. She also enjoyed listening to her son Matt playing the piano when he came home to visit.

Karen was a member of the Russellville chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked for 20 years as a Rural Letter Carrier. After retiring she enjoyed her business, Granny’s Castle Farmhouse Getaway. One of Karen’s spiritual gifts was hospitality. She and Rodney hosted the Johnson Family Reunion at Granny’s Castle several times. Most of all she loved being called Nan by her four beautiful granddaughters, Grace, Aubrie, Emma, and Addie Johnson.

She will be fondly remembered by her husband of nearly 46 years and best friend Rodney and her two sons, Bro. Chad (Mica) Johnson of Auburn and Dr. Matt (Sarah) Johnson of Chattanooga; her four sisters, Peggy (Jerry) Haley, Linda Andrews, Debbie Blakeman, Frances (Gary) Holland; her five brothers, Floyd (Shelia) Washer, Lloyd Washer, Barry (Sally) Washer, Danny Washer, and Van (Jamie) Washer; her sister-in-law, Phyllis (Larry) Johnson Causey; her brother-in-law, Russell (Debbie) Johnson; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who gave her a lifetime of memories.

A special thanks to Hosparus Health of Barren River and her sister Peggy Haley for their wonderful care in her last days. Karen’s family would also like to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness-cards, food, visits and most of all their prayers.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Johnson officiating. Visitation will be at Price Funeral Home on Sunday, June 17, at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Russellville Baptist Church, c/o Chad Johnson, 897 Sycamore Duncan Road, Auburn 42206 or Hosparus Health of Barren River, 101 Riverwood Avenue, Suite B, Bowling Green 42103.
