Willie “Myrl” Corum Toomey, 89, of Owensboro, passed away on May 19, 2018 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest in Owensboro.

She was born May 12, 1929 in Logan County to Estill Corum and Vernie Inscoe Corum. She was a homemaker, farmer, and self-taught musician. She loved flowers, piecing quilts, quilting, gardening, playing her Mandolin, reading, bird watching and spending time with her family. She loved her Lord foremost and leaned on Him always, in good times and bad. She was a member of the Whitesville Church of Christ and also had a loving relationship with her friends at Southside Church of Christ in Owensboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Delbert Wood Toomey, in 2006; an infant son, Drexal Delbert Toomey; her aunt who raised her, Vera Inscoe Askew; her brother, Warren “Bill” Corum; her sister, Mae Head; and a foster brother, Winston Askew.

Survivors include her five children, Hal (Tina) Toomey of Franklin, Kathy (Tim) Carver of Hillsboro, Ore., Debra Diann Toomey of Owensboro, Alan (Teresa) Toomey of Owensboro, and Beverly (Dan) Considine of Brownsburg, Ind.; her twin sister, Lillie “Pearl” O’Dell of Russellville; several nieces and nephews; and her Signature Hillcrest family.

She also has seven grandchildren, Jessica (Nathan) Shadowens of Portland, Tenn., Rachel (Cory) Oldham of Hartsville, Tenn., Jordan and Cameron Toomey of Owensboro, Jeremy and Ryan Considine of Brownsburg, Ind. and Jennifer Considine of Terre Haute, Ind. She has six great-grandchildren, Sidda, Knox and Miles Shadowens and Cameron, Colton and Jaxon Oldham.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday May 26, at 10 a.m. at Price Funeral Home, Inc, 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg, with Jeff Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Friday May 25, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
