Rev. Tom Wright, 82, of East 10th Street, Russellville, passed away on Oct. 15, 2014 in Mechanicsville, Va. He was an Air Force Veteran, was an ordained minister with the Christian Church Disciples of Christ. He served as senior pastor for over 60 years in Virginia and Kentucky for the Christian Church in Wytheville, Va, Millville, Middlesboro, Mayfield, Hopkinsville and Russellville, Ky.
After retiring from First Christian Church in Russellville, he served as interim minister in several of his former churches including Russellville. He also remained active serving as an elder, choir member and Sunday School teacher in his home Church in Russellville until his illness. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, ~ Patricia Tynes Edwards Wright; his daughter ~ Kemlee Byrn ~ Virginia Beach, Va.; his sons ~ Scott Wright and Kurt Wright ~ both of Mechanicsville, Va. and L.B. “Pete” Wright ~ Wytheville, Va.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Rev. Tom Wright will be held at 10:30 am. Friday, July 10, in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tithes may be sent to the First Christian Church, 201 West 7th St. Russellville, Ky. 42276 c/o of the Tom Wright Memorial Fund.
