Boyd E. Wright, 82, of Auburn, passed away Nov. 15, 2025 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. He was born Dec. 12, 1942 in Auburn to the late Harold and Gladys Kees Wright. He was a member of Auburn Church of Christ. He worked for Logan Telephone Company and retired from there after 36 years of service. He was a volunteer fireman instructor for Auburn for 28 years and a volunteer EMT for 6 years. Boyd also stated “he was a farmer for life”. He loved spending time on his farm and his beloved Massey Ferguson 35 tractor.
He married the love of his life LaVance Wilson Wright on Feb/ 15, 1964. They shared a love for the outdoors, which was spent hunting, camping and horseback riding. They enjoyed traveling and loved visiting historic sites. They shared these passions with their children and grandchildren throughout the years. On the weekends you could always find them out dancing with their many beloved friends.
Along with LaVance, he is survived by his children, Wade Wright and wife Nancy of Auburn and Tami Wright of Russellville; his granddaughters, Meagan (BJ) Ferguson, Jessie (Cory) Cooper, Mallory (Dylan) Offutt and Kaylee Cooper; his great-grandchildren, Makayla Ferguson, Lukas Adler, Lorelei Ferguson, Carson and Olivia Offutt; his sister-in-law, Gerry Wright; his special cousin, Jimmy Wright; and his other cousins and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Ray Wright and Ralph Wright.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at Kirby Funeral Home in Russellville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Auburn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Wright, Grant Wright, Hank Stanley, BJ Ferguson, Dylan Offutt, and Connor Cash. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Woodward, Tom Hoover, Wayne Crawford, Steve Montgomery and Jimmy Meguiar.
