Maurice “Moody” Watkins, 72, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 at the Colonial Center in Bowling Green. He was born in Auburn to the late Paul Ewing Watkins and Mary Leedom Powell Watkins. He worked for Auburn Leather and was a member of the Little Freedom Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, leatherwork and horseback riding.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Juanita Watkins; his son, Leslie Watkins of Auburn; his daughter, Michelle Strode and Husband Junior of Scottsville; his brother, Nelson Watkins and wife Amanda of Auburn; his sister, Martha French of Florida; and his grandchildren, Anna Rogers and husband Stephen, Jacob Strode and Emily Strode; and his four great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services for Maurice “Moody” Watkins will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Belcher officiating. Visitation Saturday at the funeral home will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
