Ray Johnson, 88, of Adairville, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab in Russellville. He was born in Elkton on Sept. 15, 1934 to the late Elmer J. Johnson and Mable Clara Thompson Johnson. He was an Army veteran and served as a military policeman in Germany. He retired from Unarco, owned and operated a transmission shop, raised tobacco and sold produce. He was a former pastor of the Life Tabernacle Church in Russellville.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Irvin Roy Johnson, and his sisters, Sylvia Camp, Thelma Blake and Geraldine Suddath. 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bettie Johnson; his son, Anthony Ray Johnson of Elkton; his daughters, Debbie Spivey and husband Delmar of Russellville and Janice Clary and Lori Jean Bailey, both of Adairville; his brothers, James Johnson and wife Wanda of Adairville, Lloyd Johnson and wife JoAnn of Louisville, Othor Johnson and wife Judy of Allensville, and Eddie Johnson and wife Kathy of Adairville; his sisters, Ovella Morrison, Jeanetta Morrison and Joyce Roberts and husband Elvin, all of Adairville; and his six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Ray Johnson will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Delmar Spivey Jr. officiating with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville at 1 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Wednesday, March 29, from 4-6 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the service hour of 11.
