James Earl Williams, 79, of Elkton, died on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

He was born Tuesday, March 24, 1942, the son of the late Leslie Williams and the late Edith Wilson Williams. He was the husband of Evelyn Bryant Williams of Elkton, who survives.

He was an electrician at TVA Paradise Fossil Plant for 23 1/2 years, where he retired in 1999. 

He was a member of Sharon Grove Baptist Church in Sharon Grove. He also served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon at Antioch Baptist Church in Lewisburg.

James also honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968, during which time he served in:

Strategic Air Command

8th Air Force

484-450 Bomb Wing

Bomb Group 1966 in Guam

He volunteered his time in doing mission work in Eastern Kentucky and loved to garden, play golf, baseball games, Kentucky Wildcats, building model planes, and watching UK Basketball.

Also surviving are his son, Casey Williams (Cindy) of Kirksmanville; his daughters, Charlotte Peterson (John) of Lewisburg and Tammy Givens (Eddie) of Benton; his brother, Calvin Williams of Sharon Grove; his grandchildren, John Austin Peterson of Lewisburg, Dylan Givens of Lexington, Makayla Peterson of Lewisburg, Brooklyn Givens of Benton, Maddie Williams of Kirkmansville, and Abby Williams of Kirkmansville; and great-grandchild, and James Allen Peterson of Lewisburg.

James loved coaching his children and watching his grandchildren in sports; he was their biggest fan.

He was predeceased by his brother, Billy Joe Williams, and his sister, Dorothy Jean Williams. 

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church, located at 7596 Duncan Ridge Road Lewisburg, with Bro. Ron Noffsinger officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg.

There will also be visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church.
