James Leon Hughes, 80, of Adairville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab in Russellville. He was a Logan County native, born June 27, 1941 to the late James Maynard Hughes and Mary Virginia Richardson Hughes. He was a retired supervisor with the Auburn Hosiery Mill and worked for the Logan County School system.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Faye Hardin Hughes, and his sister, Sue Bouhofer.

He is survived by his daughters, Cassandra Owen of Olmstead, Penny Bertram of Springfield and Jenny Blakemore of Adairville; his brother, Joe Hughes and wife Carolyn of Adairville; his grandchildren, Emily Allen and Brooke Allen, both of Russellville, Zach Bertram and wife Jessica of Cedar Hill, Tenn.; Shelby Clayton and husband Jimmy of Olmstead, Taylor Blakemore of Adairville, and Nicolas Blakemore of Bowling Green; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for James Leon Hughes will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Ken Cowan officiating with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
