No Public Services Due to the Coronavirus


Leona George, 87, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was a Logan County native, born Nov. 8, 1932 to Everett Rollie Allen and Fannie Bryant Lowe Allen. She retired from Emerson Electric after 37 years and was a member of Post Oak Baptist Church. She was a Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator and Senior Citizens Dance Committee member.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lanis ‘Mac’ George and brothers, Clarance Allen, Lewis Allen and Rollie Allen.

She is survived by her sons, William M. George of Lebanon, Tenn. and Robert M. George of Portland; her grandchildren, Bryant George and Adam George of Russellville, Savanna George-Newcomb of Brentwood, Tenn. and Jamie G. George North of Las Vegas; her great-grandchildren, Maddie, Taylor, Ashton, Ellie, Onahka and McKenna George; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services for the family of Leona George will be held with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Summers and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
