Edith McElwain, 91, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday Dec. 24, 2019 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab in Russellville. She was a Logan County native, born Sept. 5, 1928 to the late Thomas Wayne Guffy and Viola Powell Guffy Wood. She was a seamstress with Red Kap, a caregiver, and a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church for 60 Years.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Waynetta King, and her brothers, Presley Guffy, Horace Guffy, Floyd Wood and Dewey Wood.

She is survived by her son, Jimmie McElwain of Lewisburg; her daughter, Martha Venable of Russellville; her brothers, Roy Wood and Yong Ja of Deerlick and Galen Wood and Debbie of Lewisburg; her grandchildren ~ Shellie Fulkerson and Adam and Mark Venable and Shannon, all of Russellville; her great-grandchildren, Courtney Richardson, Justin Venable, Caleb Fulkerson and Caden Fulkerson; and her great-great-grandchild, Allie Richardson. 

Funeral services for Edith McElwain will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Suttles and Bro. David Rainwaters officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Friday starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until the service hour.
